Hi folks.
Deos anyone know if the R90 wheels on the Red Cooper S in the italian Job are 17" or 18"
I want to go for the 18"s but am conscious of them changing the ride height to look tacky.
Anyone know ?

I am in the exciting phase of building my dream mini - an exact replica of the Red Cooper S in the Italian Job using my standard Red Cooper as the skeleton car.If anyone knows of a cheap Aerokit or cooper S bonnet going please let me know.

Thanks,
Karl:red:

The wheels in the IJ were all OEM 17" R90 split rim alloys.

You can get 18" replicas, but these are replicas and not actual MINI wheels :)

OEM R90 wheels only come in two sizes ... 17x7 (2-piece) as used in the movie and 16x6.5 (1-piece).

Running 18" replicas will change ride height by less than 7mm:
Code:
215/35-18 - 23.93in (607.7mm)
175/65-15 - 23.96in (608.5mm)
205/45-17 - 24.26in (616.3mm)
195/55-16 - 24.44in (620.9mm)
205/40-18 - 24.46in (621.2mm)

Thanks MiniAC,

I am a newbie to the site and am amazed at the knowledge out there.

Thanks for the advice to both of you.
Based on what you ahve both said I will be going for the 17" and prob replicas due to price.

here's what the 18s look like....

These are on my cooper, not lowered and with dunlop 205/40/18 runflats.

personally I'd go for 18s and lower your car, but it depends how close you want to get to the look in the film. remember the suspension on those cars was modified to allow for jumps and increased load of all that gold ;)
