Had some not so good news today, due to an admin error the chrono pack has somehow got onto my order and it's too late to change. I don't like the look of the chrono pack so I'm now getting a slightly later car built without it. Still be a Jan build, but delivered first week in Feb and I've decided to wait the extra few weeks longer and get it on 1st March so I get the 05 plate - which may mean nothing to American readers.

Bit of a :bad::bad::bad::bad::bad::bad: really, considering I was going to be getting it in two weeks :(

Being built now!

Woohoo! I just checked the owners lounge and since a couple of days ago it now says "scheduled for production" and has the VIN number, so I called ASK MINI and it says it will be built by the 12th of Jan! When I ordered last month, MOTH quoted a delivery date to here in Seattle of sometime in March - the wife and I just can't wait.

What we ordered:

Cooper S Convertible
Cool Blue metallic
Automatic with Step-tronic
Body colour interior
Premium package
Cold weather package
DSC
17" S-Lites with All Season Run Flats
Front and Rear Fog lamps
iPod adaptor ;)

Happy New Year to all - may your MINI be delivered soon!
David.

I'm "On Order"

This is truly exciting isn't it? I have a PR# and currently I'm "On Order". My MA told me that my car will be built during the 3rd week of January and maybe at the dealer by late February. I'm on the west coast so I guess I'm looking realistically at early March.

It's January, and my MINI will be built this MONTH!!

I called the askmini number and received the automated "no confirmed production date" message. Then I spoke with a live (and helpful) person that informed me that my mini is currently planned for assembly during January week 3. He also noted that this had been pulled in from week 4 and that another move to week 2 might possibly be possible, possibly....I'll be calling next week. Anticipation!

Any New News? Website says I'm on order

Hi Jan. Prod. group,

Anyone have any new news? I know I'm in the 3rd week build group but the web says I'm on order. My MA says that everything looks good and the car should be on the west coast by the end of Feb. What did your MA say?

Spoke with my MA. My CR/CR MCS started production yesterday and is scheduled to be completed on Jan. 14. That plus 30 days to get to the dealership. All is becoming clear.
Just to check any future disappointment, If I were you I'd tack a few days to that 30 day estimate, especially if 1) your car just misses getting loaded onto a west-coast bound boat at SH, and has to sit there another 10 days or so waiting for the next boat, 2) your shipper (it takes 23-26 days just to make the SH/ Port Hueneme journey) is delayed or slowed due to weather, and 3) if your car is held up at VDC for whatever reason, like the wrong tranny oil put in at the factory

You are in CA so at least you don't have a long truck journey from VDC to dealer, so that helps. Just to give you an idea: my MCS was completed Aug 8th. It didn't leave SH until Aug 23nd. Didn't get to PH until 9/17 (delayed 2 days by Ivan.) Held at VDC until 9/27. Took delivery 10/2 (in Denver.) That's 6 days short of 60--after completion!

Good Luck! Jimbo

PS throughout the process my car was listed "in production," even at VDC!

Thanks for the reality check.

I will be taking delivery at Classic Mini in Mentor, Ohio. Hoping that my MA's experience holds true and it is close to the 30 days. Either way I am OK...the fun will come sometime in later Feb. or early March!

Some guys from CA in my prod group ordered their cars thru Classic as well (I get parts from them.) As I remember, the cars shipped over from Oxford to Cleveland rather quick, but got stuck at Classic waiting for the transport West. They were stressing so bad they ended up hijacking the thread with their verbal angst   Folks in CA who ended up buying their cars in CA got them quicker (some with markups tho)

The best advice I can offer to you or anyone else waiting for their babies to arrive is that expecting something to go longer than it should is the best mind-set to get into. And your dealer's manager is the best source of up-2-date info--forget that OL nonsense.

So you're going right to Classic to pick it up? Cool! Nice ride back to Ojai. Don't use your cruise control and vary your speed. Fun, indeed! Jimbo

Yes...we'll be doing the drive back. Thinking of a southerly route. We'll head down to visit New Orleans and then head west through San Antonio, El Paso, NM, AZ and back to CA. I want to avoid snowy weather if possible for the first months of our new baby's life. I certainly will keep away from cruise and vary speed. Looking to get my first oil change outside of New Orleans at about 1000 miles. I am a bit old school about that.

It certainly will be a fun and adventuresome vacation!

4th week and waiting!

I am scheduled for a 4th week production and my OL status is still on-order. I would love to live a bit vicariously through some of my3rd week buddies- so who of you are in production?

Oh, yeah- my specs

MCSC, Jet black, black top
White bonnet stripes
Conv. Package
Cold weather Pack (heated seat! :D )
Prem. Pack
Sport Pack
Limited Slip Diff.
Anthracite Int.
Cordoba Leather (oh yeah!)
Rear Fog lamps
Driving Lamps
iPod adapter ('natch ;) )

I am in Seattle, where the wait list is loooong. I put my deposit down in July with word of Jan production. I checked in Dec and was told it was then a August Production, Sept/Oct Delivery! What the heck good is a drop top in Seattle in October!?!?

Anyway, this is ment to be props for my MA, cuz he took one of his demo production slots and gave it to me! Bing, right back to Jan production. Please don't strong-arm your MA if you are down on the list, they just did a big favor to me and I would hate to see it blow up on them. Northwest MINI is doing a great job, but I hope I don't need them too much after I pick her up. Early March? Mebbe...
My B-day is in Feb and that would be a great birthday gift to me.

Keep us posted on your production status!

And now, back to waiting... :black:

Still on order

I'm 3rd week of Jan for production according to my MA, and the OL says "on order" still. This is a fun wait  .

Since this will be my wife's primary vehicle and she drives in traffic to and from work, we opted for the automatic MCS. I've driven the manual MCS and love it. I love driving my 4spd manual 58 bugeye, and I have fun driving our Passat 1.8L turbo using the triptronic auto. So I know I'm going to love our new MCS with F1 style shifting paddles. I can't wait to run it in the local SCCA autocross events. I can't wait to see just how "slow" it is against other stock MCSs on a timed autoX course (winks at pops).

Good things come to those who wait! :D
