JCW head vs "tuned" head from some guy :)

Hi.

I have a BIG BIG question...

Forgetting the $$$ what would you do?

Install a JCW Head that i know that is in perfect shape

Or.

Give a stock cooper S head to someone to try to port and polish it?

or even(but not probable)

Give the JCW head to that guy so he can make something even better out of it?

This would be to install in my mini one.
I am going to install this with a Newman Camshaft.

I already have extensive mods in my car and right now i'm around 140bhp.

Thanks in advance!

Depends if the guy knows what he is doing... as he could make them worse

ahah an S.... i want a real MINI ..

Come on. good answer
well best you sell urs and buy an orriginal
Really it depends who's gonna flow your head, the JCW as far as I can tell is like most other JCW bits, better than normal bits, but not optimal. so going JCW would be the safest route, however if you are wanting to push performance, there are several tuners that roam these forums that do some pretty spectacular work. If you end up going to some 2 bit "tuner" you might end up with uneven flow rates, or worse, a scrapped or missing head.
Id go to "some guy" with a standard head if the JCW is more expensive, if he knows what he's doing that is.

Also going past that power level you already have and if not done then id save your money and get a 6 speed getrag fitted as if you have done nothing to your box with that power then id say its going to explode at some point.

Mine did :(

hahahaaa good man!! i like that answer!!
I would suggest the "Other guy route". Like stated above, " if he knows what he is doing"!
The JCW is a good head if you want to keep the warranty, and let the dealer install... but the cost of that, you might as well add a few bucks and have a head "custom" made for your intended applications... yes??

There are the one head fits all, with huge valve sizes and ports for full on racing!! However if you dont RACE, then there ARE less expensive options. Keeping the stock valve size and a good valve job and port/ throat work will yield some good gains.. If the engine has the larger mods.. cam/ tune/ exhaust.. then going to a bit larger valve size and port work will be your ticket!! The power gains are anywhere from 25-35 WHP with no tune!! Just bolt on and go!! Tune... there is even more power!! and if you shop a bit, you can find the cost to be close to the factories wanted price for the new JCW!! Just take care when selecting the man who is going to do the work!! cool??

Just me.......................................................
