Hi,

I've decided i'm going to do an early oil change on my 05 Cooper.

I've been out and bought the oil and oil filter and its not as obvious as it is on other cars i've changed the oil on.

Just to confirm what I think are the 2 photos below the sump and oil filter cover.

What size spanner do you need for the filter cover? Does anyone have any helpfil tips for me??

Thanks
Olly

The oil filter housing needs a 36mm socket. (preferably a shallow one)
Not sure about the drain plug size.
Good luck. :)

drain plug is 13mm

replace the o-ring on the oil filter canister!

be careful when you go to put the oil filter canister back on, it's easy to cross thread! You kind of have to torque it towards the back of the car in order to get the threads to line up. Don't get frustrated, but the first time it might take you a while to get the hang of it

don't overtorque the drain plug - only about 15 lb-fts needed
