Just changed to non runflats. Amazing difference

I have been gradually running down the runflats on my MCS since buying it this time last year, and today I finally got to replace them for non runflats.

I cannot believe the improvement.

It is so much quieter to drive. So much so that I can now hear the burble of my milltek exhaust.

It no longer pulls into every divet in the road

And overall a much more comfortable, and responsive ride.

My steering even feels slightly lighter than before. Must be due to sheeding a bit of weight from each corner.

I will never go back to run flats again.

I love driving my mini again! yeyeyeyye:D

I cant wait for this day, reckon ill be able to ditch the runflats in about 6 monthsn when they're all worn out. What did you replace the runflats with?
i did the same last week. ditched my dunlop runflats for some falken fk452s, the results thus far are amazing! it sticks to the road so much better, and a whole lot less sliding all over the place on corners!
i have just ordered a gtt front brace and mid brace, so that should make for an even greater improvement when they are fitted nect week... cant wait!!
We went for Nankang NS2's. £60 a corner, so not breaking the bank, but bags of grip!
DITTO. Did the swap just over a weekago, I put continentals on. I was shocked at the improvments, even to the point of wondering why thy bother with runflats on the S. It must of put people off buying one!

An added bonus was picking up the mini compressor and sealant for a fraction of the price on ebay. (just hope I dont have to use them!)
I have been deliberating for a long time to change to non runflats. And i suppose most owners like me hesitates, was due to the fact that having run-flat one is able to carry on drive to the nearest garage. I am still considering and will do sometime in the near future when the Wolfrace Pro-Lite 17" Alloys are released.

Same here. I was shocked. I honestly cannot see runflats as ever being such a great invention to miss out on the great feel of driving on non runflats.

Years ago, my boyfriends mum got a Mini Cooper which came with the S spoke wheels and runflats.
She sold it not long after due to the rough ride of it.

So there you go. People must definitely get put off them.

My previous Mini which I also bought from a dealer came with alpina 18's wheels which were not run flat tyres.
So to compensate, the car came with MINI Tyre Mobility Kit. http://accessories.mini.com/internet_relaunch/servlet/image.do?imageId=1017556&imageVersion=5

Its in a very nifty looking pack which is non slip, so wont rattle around in the boot like the tyre foam repair cans will.

It also means that unlike using the tyre foam repair cans, the tyre can still be repaired rather than being replaced if it has a puncture.

Even comes with a smart pair of Mini black silky gloves so that you dont get dirty while doing it. :D
100% agree run-flats are horrible, ditched mine 4yrs ago and would never have them again.

My NS2's are 205/45/r17
I have also just done the same on my Clubman S, the difference is amazing, the ride is much quieter, smoother, and it is a lot more controlled over bumpy surfaces.
Thumbs up for non-runflats
I would like a Tyre Mobility kit if anyone can point me in the right direction aka not a dealer ;)
I just looked on the mini website and cant believe how much they are charging for one of these mobility kits. £80 seems a bit steep for what you get.

I would have sold you mine, but I guess I needs it...
