It's booked in at the dealers next week, hopefully to be replaced under warranty.

Also, where the seat belt rubs against the seat had worn out the threads where the seat is stitched together. The air bag is inside the seat at that area, so I went to the dealer and they are going to replace the seat cover under warranty. My concern is whether this is going to happen again with the replacement seat cover. I've only had the car 6 1/2 months and it only has 5800 miles. I'm VERY careful getting it and out of the car, not to rub against the seat.
I deliberately got factory leather instead of aftermarket leather because I thought the factory would use better quality leather. My other cars with leather seats didn't get to this kind of wear for 6-7 years, not 6-7 months. The leather appears to be coated with a plastic colored film instead of being full grain leather. The film is what seems to be peeling off.
Has anyone else had this problem? What did you do to protect the leather from scuffing?
