Left pull fix - latest

Maybe noted by others, but I've just had a call from my dealer about rejigging things to make the car go in a straight line. He mentioned all manner of technical jiggery-pokery, but in a nutshell said the changed bits in the front suspension were lifted straight across from the M3. Don't know if as well as driving straight this will improve the already spiffy handling of the car.

Will report back after the modifications have been done in the next couple of weeks.

I spoke to my dealer yesterday about this (my new car does pull left, but I decided the board had heard enough about this from me) they had no news yet, so perhaps not all dealers have this fix yet? I'll wait, there's nothing I'd rather have than my MINI :)
Left, left a bit more, left hand down a bit...

Inquired about a left pull fix whilst I was at my dealer discussing some other things. (I'm not sure whether my Jan 02 One is affected, but I'm keen to get it checked just in case. The only real symptons are an aching driver's right arm after about five miles of journeying and a suspicion that it takes more effort to turn the wheel to the right than the left. And when travelling in a straight line the steering wheel appears to be a few degrees down to the left...which is probably totally unrelated). The servicing guy obligingly offered to book Tiny in for a KDS test, but reading from a BMW information sheet (which he wouldn't let me take a copy of, naturally) said the only current fix is new front shocks. Two day job, in total. I'm not entirely sure whether it will be worth the hassle.
My September build Cooper has a bad pull to the left. I first reported this to the dealers in December when they fitted new dampers. Back to the dealers in January as it was no better and was told a mod was being worked on and would be ready in a couple of months. Sent a letter to MINI UK to complain about the crap explanations I've been getting from the dealer over a few problems, the left pull included, got a call from customer service last week who were just there to smooth things over and didn't really know anything technical. Still waiting for the mod and getting seriously fed up with my aching arm. Car is in the dealers on the 16th to sort out some of the minor problems, but I'm getting to the end of my tether, other people seem to be getting the mods done but I'm still waiting like a lemon. I think it's time to put some pressure on the dealers, fix or I reject it!
Just a thought but for all of you that are struggling on with the left pull, you must have clocked up a few miles by now. Is there any noticeable wearing to the tyres at all?

Pull to the left

Spoke to my dealer today and the pull to the left has been fixed at the factory for all new cars apparently. They're getting back to me with a date when they can sort mine.

I was told by the salesmen the geometry was set for the camber of German roads :confused: Does anyone know if this is true ?
sounds like a crock ... If I'm running Jim Kona course in a parking lot or whatever, I do not want my car setup to go by any road camber. Funny how some dealerships not admitting to anything or playing dumb, but are all (from perosnal eperience or what I read from others) speaking same BWM language (camber, PSI, front wheel dive tourque steer, sensitive to road, etc.). Come on guys who do they think the're talking to. Even the mini's of yesterday that had a "design" flaw, unmatched front end, would only show tourque steer when nailed and that with worked engs. The cooper I rejected aside from the pull had a tourque steer (and what happens when matched with the hp of the S) and as others noted on thier's a pull to left when braking. Don't get me wrong even with this the car is incredible, but I can't believe BMW is letting these cars on the road. Aside from tire wear, one day when you really need/expect the car to go or brake straight and it pulls left BAM! Hope this is sorted out and outcome published.

PS. still anxiously awaiting my S for June delivery, as nontheless, I'm hooked!

Pain in the arm

Just wanted to thank willibobs for mentioning your aching arm. Even a few miles of Mini adventuring brings me out in upper arm aches and pains, and although it's no consolation to anybody, I feel a whole lot better that I don't seem to be alone in this, and also convinces me that I'm not wasting my dealer's time in attempting to get Tiny's potential left pull looked at.

Sat on the M60 crawling along every morning and night is giving me a right arm like Popeye!
If you're sat at traffic lights, when the lights change set off slowly without holding the wheel, my wheel immediately turns a few degrees to the left and tries to make it's way to the side of the road. Now surely road camber doesn't have an effect over the first 10 centimetres does it?!!!!
The explanation about the springs being coiled in the wrong direction makes sense to me. If both front springs are wound anti-clockwise then under compression there will be a rotation about the central axis in the anti-clockwise direction i.e. to the left of the car.
The passenger-side spring should be wound clockwise so under compression it will rotate towards the centre of the car. If both springs have the same number of windings and are effectively mirror images of each other then the rotational forces will cancel each other out. Thus the only forces then affecting the car will indeed be the road camber.

I'm sorry but I really don't buy this "springs wound the same direction" stuff. The springs are trapped between two housings and cannot affect direction of travel.

Has anybody with the "left pull" problem tried jacking the front of the car up, setting the wheels straight and then starting the car?

If anybody tries it, please use axle stands or somesuch so its correctly supported.

If the steering wheel turns, its nothing to do with the suspension.

If nothing happens to the steering, stick it in gear and then see what happens and then let us know.
I am new to this forum so please forgive me if I am going over old ground. Does the problem make itself more aparrent during rapid acceleration or braking? Have more than 1 or 2 people found this problem on the MCS model? Thanks for your help.
left hand pull

I've had this problem to but now i know there are others with the same problem i'm going to contact my dealer as well
