My `03 Cooper with 74,000 has been diagnosed with low cylinder compression. The dealer mechanic is telling me that to further diagnose the cause will require removing the head (estimated 10 hours labor @ $125.00/hr)

Aside from occasionally stalling when I start it (in the morning only) it is running well. I declined service at this time to get a second opinion. Local, trusted mechanic did compression test and confirmed low cylinder compression. He was surprised to find this problem, but did not feel like it required immediate attention. Any one else having these issues?

Of note- as much as I love my MINI I am considering trading it in (my 2 small children continue to grow and 2 car seats in the back doesn’t leave much room for anything else).
