Here are some photos I took at the recent John Cooper Works open day organized by the Mini Cooper Register.

The day started with a talk and video presentation by Mike Cooper on the history of Cooper, starting with the racing cars of the 50s and 60s, then the classic Mini Cooper, before moving on to the new Mini and future developments. Apparently the next generation MCS due in 2006/7 will have a 200 bhp turbo engine as standard, and JCW will be getting their first example of the new engine from BMW very soon to start tuning work. 240 - 250 bhp was mentioned as the likely output for the next generation MCS Works.

This was followed by a visit to the workshop to see a Works kit being fitted to an MCS, and an opportunity to spend lots of money on JCW goodies ...

As well as various new and classic Minis and historic Cooper racing cars, also present were a couple of John Cooper Challenge Minis and the pair of 270 bhp cars which JCW ran in the Nurburgring 24 Hour race.
