Hi,

new to this club as my wife has just bought a mini clubman. Unfortunately it does not have rear parking sensors - can any recommend where we can go to get some installed?

We have not tried BMW for a quote as we predict they would be far too expensive.

Thanks in advance,

Andrew & Nicola.

Depends on what you want - I got a kit from Halfords a few years ago for my mother in law's car as I was fed up arranging to have her bumper / wall repaired.

I think they were either £75 or £100 and 2 wensors simply fit behind the numberplate with one at each end and wire into the reversing light and the bleeper pops somewhere in the boot.

Really effective, not as pretty as ones let into the bumper and sprayed but does the trick.

I'm sure there are tons of auto places that offer bumper versions for a fraction of the BMW cost.

Thanks for the reply will check off the halfords ones first and take it from there. The wife is really missing them all ready.

You shouldnt discount getting BMW to fit it, it will look OEM and therefore add value to your car, in many cases they can be simply added (though possibly not in this case due to the need to paint).

You can see all of the aftermarket (dealerfit) parts mini offer by going to mini.co.uk and clicking on accessories.

Been to an I dependent garage and they are quoting £225 for the genuine kit from bmw and £60 labour per hour to fit.

Also advised they will fit any thing I supply as well. Any recommendions?

Cheers

Rear parking sensors

Rear view camera to display image when reversing on the Sat Nav screen?
Been to bmw chester for a quote and they have come back with over a grand due to the car needing a new bumper as well. Ouch.

Our mini hasnt got a built in sat nav. Back to the drawing board.

The garage has said you need a new bumper for sensors?
Ive seen them a the Volvo garage fitting sensors after market and the guy marks off the position and just drills the holes in the bumper for them.
Ok I suppose its quick just to fit a new bumper but it can be done without, I guess its cost of the new bumper compared to time taken in labour drilling the existing one.
The reversing cameras usually fit in the numberplate light plinth but if youve not got the sat nav screen you wont see anything.
