My 2007 Mini cooper R56 has got a P0013 code with amber engine warning light and an eratic idle RPM (this settles down after the car has warmed up but the fault code remains). After a bit of searching about i've seen that it is likely something to do with the VANOS system. I have had a look under the bonet and found that the connector to the solenoid was broken, so have replaced that and cleared code. The code came back fairly quickly so i had another look and saw that the solenoid was leaking from the connector, so I have since replaced this too. Unfortunately the code and rough idle has come back. Some people have suggested that when changing the timing chain or other parts related to camshaft timing, you should reset and recallibrate the "variable camshaft timing control adaptations". Is this something that would be necessary when changing just a solenoid? Any help would be really appreciated. Thanks.
