Hi, i have a 04 convertible and the boot won't open and it doesn't make the usual noise that releases the catches. So after lots of reading and youtube videos i tried to find a fuse (unsuccessfully). So i opted to buy a boot actuator thinking the motor may have packed in. I just changed this part and the boot still won't activate ~ leading me to believe it may be a fuse which i didn't locate on my first check?

Does anyone have any input that may help me finding a solution i would be most thankful?

Ive taken this apart, it wasn't broken so i started looking at my battery and did some testing. Followed the wires up to the boot and the rubber protector. There was a red wire, i gently tried the wires and the red one came out.. looking like i found the problem.. it just started chucking it down so i will continue after the rain has passed but im hopeful this may be it!

They are prone to go , usually a new boot handle , or if you are nifty with a solder , they can be repaired
I just replaced the boot handle this past weekend for my 08 hatchback r56. It was a very easy switch. My boot would just unlatch randomly while driving or not. the new handle fixed that, and I was able to open without the key at first, but now the button on the actual handle isnt responding.

So brand new handle, worked for a bout a day, now it wont respond to me trying to open it by hand (not with key fob button). Does anyone have any thoughts on that?

Tried checking the electrics?
The button on the remote works to open the latch, so that part is right.

For the handle, it worked when i first installed it. I thought it may be the electrical connection between handle and door, so checked that, and no problem i can see.

Since it worked at first and then stopped a few days later, i am thinking it would have to be something in the handle that tells the latch to open - like the button not making contact with the right part. I guess that is where I will need to look.

Please let me know if you have any thoughts on that.

I would possibly look at getting a replacement handle then.. you would be covered by a warranty most likely?
