Mini Copper All4 storage

Hi. Just bought my wife a 2013 All4 which is lovely. There is a tow hitch and a black pole in the boot. Any idea where these are stored safely and what the black pole is for? I believe these are run flat tyres so no spare wheel or bits. Many thanks
