Hi!

I'm helping a buddy with their MK2 (2011) and he has no mechanical knowledge, i am familiar with 1990's earlier (have rebuilt a 1990 Jeep and 1988 GT). His alternator went out, and he replaced it. It worked for about 10-12 days and then no longer charged battery. We are going to swap out hoping he somehow received a dud, but is there any regulator/fuse/capacitor to check out that could prevent charging as well?

Additionally, does the MK2 use the 120v or 150v Alt?

gen 2 mini all use smart charge controlled by the ecu ie that is the small wire plug on alternator ie the car ecu switches the charge on and off as with electronic steering rack the system is needed to balance demand etc,, also the battery MUST BE AGM AND MUST BE REGISTERED TO ECU or charging wont work correctly, also if battery gets week this will also over load the system and it will shut down to protect its self, these batteries tend to be for the bin after 5-8 years max,, will need software to teach the car ecu new battery registrations, insta d or autocom cdp plus or even wurth snooper will do it, and high end snap on diagnostics with euro cars update as

Is there any way to link Batt and ECU at home or is this a shop issue?
