No offense intended but some of the model names and dates are going to cause confusion.

Since you're located in the US doesn't it make more sense to refer to model years?
  • Hardtop (R50 and R53) - 2002 thru 2006
  • Convertible (R52) - 2005 thru 2008
  • Hardtop (R56) - 2007 thru present
  • Clubman (R55) - 2008 thru present
  • Convertible (R57) - 2009 thru present
  • Countryman (R60) - 2011 thru present
  • Coupe (R58) - 2012 thru present
  • Roadster (R59) - 2012 thru present
  • Paceman (R61) - 2013 thru present

I've included model designation (R##) in the list. Owners can use the last 7 digits of VIN to identify the model designation of their MIN on either of thefollowing sites:

I suspect most of the problem is that Mini USA has always sold the hatchback/hardtop as the "coupé"*, so when the actual Coupé came along, everything got confusing.

* or more likely "coupe", since they would pronounce it 'coop'....
