Hello Everyone,
I honestly doubt that anyone here remembers me, I was only here for a very short time in the late sumer of this year... I test drove a Mini and was instantly begging for more, I almost signed.... But it was not to be at that time :( I have since been secretly formulating a plan, budget, anything that could help me in my quest to have a Mini, and now I am back...

I was a fan of the Cooper before they were produced here in the US, but when I first heard of the introduction of this incredible machine to the US I was filled with Bliss.... Pure Bliss. So now I am in a position where I have a decent job (911 Police & Fire dispatcher) with decent pay and a decent life..It was time to bring it all to a point with the purchase of my Mini. I gathered my father for one day and went for a test drive. There is only one dealership that sells Minis in Indiana and when I stepped foot on that lot I swear my heart skipped a beat! I was in my own little wonderland, I looked at these beauties from all angles and admired thier style. I sat behind the wheel and the rush I felt was that greater than anything I have ever felt, at that moment I realised that whoever said "Money can't buy happiness" had never felt what I was feeling at that moment. I worked my budget over and over, cutting out my daily Starbucks and all of the options that I could possibly cut out of my pre-existing budget were slashed out with no hesitation...But dispair quickly set in...... The costs of insurance, the car payment itself, my rent and the three bills I had along with a small allowance for food left me with only $45 a month.

I cried, I tried every possible budget plan, I became furious that I work a job I don't particularly enjoy just to have this car and now I realised I could not afford the one thing I wanted in return....

Since then I have developed what I am sure is an unhealthy obsession with the Mini... I have a model of the exact Mini I dream of in my house, reminding me of the ultimate goal. I feel the strongest pangs of jealousy when one passes me on the roads and each day as I drive past the one Mini that resides in my town I long for the chance to sit behind the wheel just one more time. I will even admit that in the last 72 hours I have been caught hugging (yes, hugging.. ) a Mini that was parked in a CVS parking lot.... And I have to say that it made my day.

I am honestly worried for my sanity at times.... I mean, I dream of this car as some women dream of thier perfect husbands! So it is in this moment that I declare my plan, 'Operation Mini-Love' if you will....

I am going to find a way to setup a website dedicated to letting the world know of my obsession with these magnificant machines. I will tell mystory and keep updates on my Mini related madness, I will also attempt to reach a starting goal of 50 photos of me and various Minis that I encounter in hopes that eventually I will collect enough information and proof of my love of the Mini that perhaps I could prove myself and my dedication to the dealer here in Indiana (or elsewhere..) and perhaphs even Mini USA itself.... I am not asking for a free car, I don't think I deserve a free car.... I only ask for some sort of payment plan or perhaphs an insurance plan that will allow me to finally achieve my ultimate goal... A Mini to call my own.

I'm sure if you set up a web site with a Pay-Pal account button you could get donations to the cause.

>tongue in cheek comment follows<

And if you make your pictures with the various Minis somewhat "provocative" I bet the donations will be greater. :D

Minisoopercooper> Thank you, I hope that you are correct!

Jedi67> Lol... I guess maybe setting up a paypal wouldn't be a horrible idea, I'm not begging for donations but hey.. I wouldn't say no either lol. Really what I need right now is webspace (I've never setup a *real* website, just my blog..) and Minis to take photos with to start (ugh.. I knew I should've bought a digital camera ages ago! ) And hey.. for a nice donation you can get almost any Mini photo you want :p LOL.

Sounds like you've got it pretty bad for the MINI! Have you looked into a used one? It might just save you that little extra money you need to make it happen.

It's been proved time and time again at collages and universities that a person can live on ramen noodles (~$0.20), mac & cheese ($0.60), and vitamins ($5.00 for a store brand) alone! That should bring your food bills down a bit! :D

And on a bit more serious note, ever think about getting a waitress job? Personally, I couldn't put up with it, but whenever my brother needs a few extra bucks for something, he'll go and wait tables for a couple days a week after work and a full day on a weekends for a few months. It should be easy enough to gather enough for a car and insurance payment. Plus, if your father and/or mother have decent credit, and no one has a problem with it, you could have one of them co-sign a loan. That should keep payments and interest down to a minimum.

In any case, good luck!

I looked at your website and saw that you're a photographer. What kind of photographer? Portraits, art, news? Seems like either could provide a revenue stream. How about your love of horses? Can you get part-time work with horses? Take care of them, groom them, etc? Perhaps even give riding lessons? Are you in college? If so, is there a subject you excel at? Maybe you could be a tutor. Waitressing in a nice restaurant usually pays well, so does dealing cards/craps in a casino if you're close to any.

I know how it feels to want something...

Where there's a will, there's a way. You'll figure something out.

Best of luck on your quest.

Paul! >> Unfortunately due to working full time here at the Police Dept and the messed up schedules we have I couldn't really fit in another part time job and not have issues here as far as my performance goes :( As it is I barely have time to even sleep 5 hours on average... And honestly I dunno how people do that job, lol... I have a great deal of respect for them, I lose my patience with the calers here at work and I couldn't imagine having to actually deal with them in person. lol

Rawhyde>> Yes, I do hobby in Photography and while I suppose I am partial I do think (and have been told) that my work does have quality. I have dabbled in Photojournalism while in HS and did some local work for the town's papers but I mostly do artistic and portrait work now... I'd love to find some buyers for some work! I'd be joyous lol...I am not in college (the money issue again)....
But I do agree, if there's a strong enough will inside of me I will find a way! :D

mini=need, horses=expense. once you've driven a mini any other form of getting around is just redundant, just ask my legs!. The only reason I havn't cut them off and sold them for dog food is that i need them to reach the pedals :D
