Hi All,

I've just bought a Mini Countryman ALL4 Cooper S (petrol), made in 2011 (R60) with about 50,000 miles - I've noticed that on start-up, I occasionally see smoke coming from the exhaust - nothing major, and it usually disappears after a few minutes, but is this an issue, should I be concerned, and is there anything I can do/should do about it?

Many thanks,

Tony

Thanks Mike,

I'm trying to save a bit of money, and I see on eBay a ton of those, some 1/4 of the price (with the sensors included). Is there any difference? I have added a link to a couple below;

might want to check with mini main agents on any recall for thermostat housing as on psa cars they have one due to a number of faults and one being get to hot and oil goes very thin causing smoke and oil loss, as a 5/40 is a thicker oil at 100c ie the 40 part of it would make sensor that yours could be running at higher temp ie sign of thermostat housing issues,, link below for upgrade housing t=and the wiring for it ie 2 pin is a 4 pin on revised ones, i would say its a must do job on any prince engine ie petrol mini

Hi Mike, just double checking on this, I think mine is an N18 engine? This Thermostat appears to be for N12 - N16? When I plug my car details into the eBay listing, it says it isn't compatible.....
