I used him back in early 2006 after I stuffed my MINI into the back of a Vauxhall that sported a towbar, resulting in me needing a new front bumper and radiator surround. The main BMW/MINI dealer in Shrewsbury quoted me £1000 to fix it, which I thought was a bit much for a car that was nearly three years old and which I was planning of getting rid of a few months later.

I found out about Matt thanks to fellow MINI2 member Restyle, called him up and he invited me over one afternoon. He's based in an industrial estate just outside Shifnal. Anyway, he said he'd source me a second-hand bumper and quoted me a figure of a mere £200 for everything. A veritable bargain. We agreed on this and I took the car back to him a few days later and left it with him to sort out. A couple of hours later, it was ready and he'd sorted everything out perfectly and I drove off a happy man.

I have no qualms at all about recommending Matt. I wouldn't call it a garage, though - more a lock up (may have changed since). But don't let that put you off. Highly capable, friendly and excellent prices. What more could you ask for?

Highly recommended

I have just had a set of JCW front discs and calipers fitted to my 2002 Cooper S by Minimatt in Shifnal and I must say I was very impressed, he has just moved to a new bigger premises that has a waiting room/showroom.

I found his prices very good and will be going back soon to have a play exhaust supplied and fitted!

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED - KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK MATT

I used him this year to source a gearbox. I verified several times that it was a facelift gearbox, to which he replied, "yes".

He even pointed at the sticker on the gearbox and said that it proves its a facelift. turns out, quite the oposite. It was a pre-facelift box. I even had the box split and compared the number of teeth on the gears to verify it.

I had to make another 60 mile trip to swap the gearbox for another one.

I had been quoted a price inclusive of VAT, and when it came to pay he was going to add VAT on again.

There is an alternative in the Midlands if you decide against that specialist... ThinkMINI

Both myself and bhozar use them ... as do a lot of MINI and Smart people including some from as far north as Staffordshire. They are located in Worcestershire but only 10 mins from J5 or J6 of the M5

I have just sourced a replacement rev counter (failed OBC/temp display) from MiniMatt. The replacement looked brand new, was delivered in less than 24 hours and cost £50 (incl P&P). BMW? Two days to supply and £160.

I have just used him to get a replacement rear wheel arch trim after some thieving scum knicked mine. Very good service, he said he would make sure all clips were in good order and not damaged and it was exactly as i hoped, £15 delivered.

Spare keys are a hard one as they are coded as well as having the cut key form. You will probably find you cant get them via anywhere but BMW dealers, not possitive on that but I doubt anyone else has the coding equipemnt. i think a spare replacement for a MINI from BMW was somethig extortionate like over £150... but I could be wrong

I would recomend Matt, I have been there with quite a few of our Minis for all kinds of stuff. My brothering law also bought a second hand mini off him. My girlfriends MCS had an intercooler fitted there for the tech guide in Modern Mini mag. He knows his stuff and is a nice bloke.

I would recommend MINI MATT's for any problems or parts you want to buy for your MINI.

He now has a brand new workshop (at the same industrial estate in Shifnal, Telford). With four post and scissor ramps. Where upto 5 mechanics are working daily.

He can do all types of repair - from steering pumps to gearboxes, engines and even full smash up repairs.

They do all types of engine repairs and even have the facility on site to regrind heads.

He's also got a spray booth there.

I recently took my R56 MCS there and he checked on the diagnostics what was happening in the engine.

He also works on many other repair cars - i've seen porsches, Land Rover Discoveries and AMG Mercs in there as well as rovers and MINI's. Because he used to work for a Prestige British Car Manufacturer he is very competent and skilled.

Also if you want a MINI for around £5000 - then he's your man.

you can also see many of his auctions on Ebay
