I've also seen youtube videos that show that the main computer is under the front dash, meaning to you have to take the entire dash off to change it, terrible design in my opinion, probably designed to rack up the labour hours on simple jobs.
And/or to encourage you to go to the dealership as a lot of smaller garages hate MINI’s for that- happy to do anything under the bonnet or otherwise, just not the ecu!

Hi guys, thank you for all your help. Unfortunately the problem turned out to be within the actual steering lock unit itself and not a simple fuse like I hoped. I ended up going to a specialist who programs CAS/DME/Keys in hope to have something done software wise, unfortunately needed to replace the unit with a use one(£80), horrible design by Mini.
Ended up paying £420 overall, which I'm sure is a fraction of what I would of ended up paying at the dealers, as they would probably recommend fitting an entire steering rack.
Thanks again for the help.

I would just give them a call, I don’t think there’s much in it cost wise. Like I said, the independent one was almost twice the cost. (I’ll give you a clue, they’re in the town with a giant crossing.) but just give mini a ring with what you think the problem is and then get a quote, try the one this guys said too and see what the prices are like. mx player
