Click Here to read a brief post about a driver who unloads BMW's and MINI's in the states.
It's very encouraging!:)

Sounds a bit like someone hyping their experience to me (can't blame them I guess)!

For example:

"Both the cooper and cooper s have arrived stateside. I have had the pleasure to drive both of them, and they are loads of fun. The cooper s takes that level up a few notches, of course with the supercharger helping out. I have seen about 40 or so here already, with more coming soon."

That sounds good. Loads of fun, the Cooper S taking it up a few notches...

But then.

"I haven't had the opportunity to flogg a cooper, just taking it from point A to point B, less than 20 mph, so I can't tell how how fast they are, but they do handle exceptionally well."

So from travelling at LESS than 20mph, with no chance to flog them (of course), you can tell how well a car handles (exceptionally) and also that the Cooper S takes the 'fun' factor up a few levels?!

Man, why do they bother with these long test drives and letting magazines and the media use cars for extended trials when you can glean so much from so little!?

;)

Did you guys miss this mysterious part of the post?

"....red, yellow, a weird goldish color, and silver...."

GOLDISH !?

I thought the gold color for a MINI was dead, defunct, no more! It had ceased to be! Expired and gone to meet its maker! A stiff! Bereft of life, Rest in peace! If it hadn't been nailed to the perch, it'd be pushing up the daisies! Its metabolic processes are now history! Its off the twig! Its kicked the bucket, Its shuffled off its mortal coil, run down the curtain and joined the bleedin' choir invisibile!! THIS IS AN EX-COLOR!!
(opps! sorry got carried away there - some of you will recognize how stuff can just play over and over in your head  ...:)).

What do you make of a sighting of goldish MINIs?

BruceK - Im sure you already know this, but they had a gold cooper at the Detroit autoshow last month with gold color interior (not bad). Not sure about whether it is still "alive" or "dead". :)

I too think that the Gold MINI was/is destined for autoshows. It fits. Since MINI has a few MINI autoshow exibits (I think 3) that travel the shows, one of them contained a Gold MINI. NAIAS 2002 had the Gold MINI. Toronto Autoshow does not. Even the MINI exhibit looks to be a different design. Anyone with a keen eye, check to see if the Gold MINI has the North American wheel spats with the reflectors lodged in them. I seem to recall that the gold one didn't have the reflectors.

It's not a palindrome! The palidrome of "goldish" would be "hsidlog"; it don't work! The Cooper-flogger's brother was lying . . .

Yeah, what's the deal with the gold color for the MINI??? As someone else already said, there was a gold Cooper at the Detroit show but there is no mention of it on the MINIUSA website (it's been deleted).

I won't be getting this color, but I do think it looks good on the car.

One of the MINI specialist at the autoshow said( in a very hushed voice while no-one was looking)that the gold color would be available later in the year but it was not public knowledge as of yet.....;)
