Faster driver. Actually I've no idea. I've heard anything from 6.5 to 7.5 as being quoted from a number of different sources.

I understood the UK time to be 0-62 mph.

The August 2004 EVO (#70) puts the stock S at 7.8 (verified by the magazine) and the JCW at 6.7 (mfg figures). This is to 60mph (not 62mph/100kph). And we all know EVO is never wrong

The S was a 2004 (I think, tested in issue 66, April 04) while the JCW was probably a 2003 as it was done in issue 55 (May 2003).

Car and Driver:

The last Cooper S we tested (July 2002) took seven seconds to reach 60 mph. The JCW package drops that time to 6.4 seconds.​

Not as stupid a question as it sounds arbee bearing in mind the UK/US gallon size disparity.

As for 0-60 differences, road surface, humidity, wind, blah blah, gradient, tyre pressures, change up point, blah blah, method, timing equipment, actual vehicle miles, fuel grade, tempreature, heat soak, blah blah blah blah blah

And yes, a US mile is much longer 'cos everything is bigger in America!

Also bear in mind how the engine frees up after a few miles. I found an american publication that timed their 2003 (163hp) MCS at 7.4s to 60 when new, and the same car at 6.9s to 60 after 20k miles. Worth bearing in mind alongside all the correct blah blahing above...
I'm certainly pretending to myself that my 2005 MCS will be in the sixes after a vigorous run in and a few miles...!

I'd say 7.4 Flooring it and shifting at the optimal shift points. This is what you can expect on the road. The testers rev the engine and drop the clutch in order to gain the fastest times.
