Following on from my previous thread about the 287D code, I am happy to report teh mini runs like a dream and is getting better by the day.
When I did the full TC kit, i fished the broken piece of the guide out of the engine and checked it against the guide - nothing missing - phew. What I did not know was there was a small tab broken off the other guide - nnnnnnoooooooo
The piece lodged whee the dipstick passes through the lower half of the block such that I could not replace the dipstick. Sump is off and it took me 20mins just to fish this 20mmx10mm piece out. I looked all around the oil pump chain and strainer and in the pan - no signs of anything else.
@mike1967 thank you for the advice on the gasket sealer - the rebuild it tomorrows job
