Modified Intake

was replacing thermostat housing and noticed some strang parts on the intake. It looks like a DIY job. On each of the 4 fingers of the intake there is a tiny nipple that had a hose on it, to a T and so on. All 4 finger had some kind of vacume line and all connected together and connected to a port on the valve cover. The nipples had Silicon around it to seal. So all of the connecter of these lines broke and i removed them to take intake off. T's butt connecters amd reducers. All these broken parts look like drip line irrigation fittings. I think this because I found similar parts by accident. Lol i looked at all the auto parts stores in my town. Even sent photos to a dealer mechanic. He had no idea what these were or what they were for. A friend of mine said it was maybe for nitrus? Or for boost guage? The options i have are putting it back the way it was.(cant find parts). Put back to stock. But dont no how it was stock. If the nipples wernt on there, then what originally connected to the port on the valve cover? Questions i have. Im new here and new to this car. Has anyone seen this on there Mini or have some insite on why it may have a mod like this?

Clearly that is a D.I.Y. Attempt at running either pvc or water fluid into the intake ports in a effort to stem the amount of carbon build up on the intake valves; due to the direct injection process that does not coat the valve stems in fuel before going into the combustion chamber.
They were either just running water rigged up to a electric pump or used those fittings on each of the intake ports in combination with low impedence water/methanol injectors.

Do you no what would have been originally connected to the valve cover?

It's looking like it was just that. A attempt to pump the pvc back through the intake in a effort to wash down the valve stems from carbon as the fuel of a mini cooper is direct injection.
That would be my theory. A aftermarket water/methanol system does not require it. And the only other thing going on would be some type of one off switch for that, or gauge.
Just my theory. But what I do know Is I do not often say I wished someone else could give there theory or fact it could be more solid idea.
Water/meth systems are contained. But if I found something like that. I would check the fuel tank for any pumped fitted that look homemade. Maybe even lift the covers for the fuel filter and fuel pump off under the back seat. Making sure someone did not try to hook up fuel injection on demand or something by running a inline pump under the car and running a plastic tube into the fuel tank.
