Forum rules suggest I should introduce myself and my mini....

Hello my name is Matt. I live in the rather lovely Somerset UK. I like things neat, clean and tidy. I am also interested in high end sound, music, interior design, deliberately saying or spelling things incorrectly for my own amusement and gardening. I gave up alcohol 2 years ago. I am generally outspoken, artistic and can ask alot of questions. Many have said I have a weird sense of humour that takes a good while to understand and appreciate. Some never do. I am bold with a greying chin.

In March I purchased my first MIni. A 2007 MCS in Astro black. It was a little under loved but in original condish so I applied some Mr Chally special elbow grease and Voila! She's lookin pretty good now. Interior is really clean just the way I like it :)
Body work is clean and well polished.

The original suspension was rough and knocky. I had my local car tuning garage replace with AP coil-overs and lowered.
Tyres are really good : kumho Ecsta PS31's. Thought about new wheels but liked the original wheels so had them refurbished.

Had a few little engine issues ironed out ;
New battery
Timing tensioner pulley
Vanos solanoid
Engine sump gasket and new oil
Brakes bled and new brake fluid
New water pump tensioner and water pump plus bits.
4 Wheel laser alignment.

Now looking for advise and pointers to improve engine performance.

I've been thinking about a few areas...before I go ECU remap stage 2

Replace intercooler and associated pipework with larger upgraded intercooler and silicon pipes.

Upgrade turbo cold feed pipe, replace resonator and noise maker with upgraded silicon pipes. Turbo heat retaining jacket and or heat deflector to lower high under hood temps, will leave original air intake box arrangement as not convinced that an open air intake would lower intake air temp as the MCS turbo creates a huge amount of heat in the engine bay. Obviously a sportscat downpipe and favourite cat back exhaust option for me would be a quicksilver.

Over to you mini goers...

Welcome to MINI2.
Thanks. I will have a look about and see what's go win on hee 'R'...
I forgot to mention the original 17" alloy wheels were completely refurbished. I thought about just replacing with aftermarket ones but I really liked the original ones put on the car in the first place. They are split rim web.

Other updates;

Replaced all the pointless resonator, muffler, noisemaker bits with MTC silicon pipes, big thumbs up and recommended.

Had fuel starvation and fuel level abnormalities. Had both fuel sender's replaced.

Had walnut blasting/cleaning to intake manifold.

Had scorpion sports cat fitted.

Experienced turbo issues. Replaced with new JCW turbo new Pierburg solenoid and uprated the rubber/plastic part with a DV plus.

The car is now driving super smooth and responsive.

Next is replace crappy intercooler, probably Airtec.

But first... I'm going to install a baffled oil catch can from the engine rocker breather to air intake and then look at modifying the existing pcv pipe and incorporate another oil catch can here too.....
