Lately, there seems to be a concern with the MTH ECU modification. There are reports of the MTH-chipped cars suddenly dying while driving them. If you have MTH in your MINI, please answer this poll.

For the purposes of the poll, "Problem" does not mean problems with the interface cable, uploading/downloading the software, e-mail support etc.

Thank you.

I have more concerns with the fact that I have paid for an MTH tune but have had no response or replies from the company despite emailing and there is no phone number to call! A simple " we have received your programme and will respond within X days" would give me great comfort...

Snek,

there are stock cars and cars with chiptuning from other vendors with the same problem.

Alex
That's true but that still doesn't invalidate his question.

I had an early UniChip. Left me dead on the side of the road. They've fixed the problem and now the units are good.
That may be the same course of action needed for this product. I don't know.
No harm in looking into it though, is there?

also Alex with other chip tune companies you have somewhere to go back to, someone that might be able to sort out your car should a problem arrise. MTH is all done from a web based company, so think any potential problems with MTH could leave a MINI owner all on their own;)

This has to be put into perspective as not all owners of MTH cars have had the problem, others have hit the redline with no problems. I remember reading on the original MTH thread as people were adding it to their cars they were reporting no problems with the redline - I was soooo Jealous as my car also 'died' after hitting the redline.

I TOTALLY agree with Rakey and his comments about support. Picture the scene:

Your car has just died on the way to work.
You have managed to get into the carpark of a firestation.
You know that you MTH'd your car and this has caused the problem.
You are 50 miles from home.
You don't know if Mini breakdown would cover your car if you call.
You don't know if the car will restart and you are afraid to try.
You have not heard of any other problems with MTH.

I then managed to get the car home and sent an eMail to Franz and Alex. I got a reply from Alex within an hour and Franz replied the next day with a new file. That was the longest day ever as I had a car that I was worried to drive and I felt that I had no support. But to be fair I got a new file and the car has been fine, the only reason I removed it was down to my conscience.

Help Please!!!!!!!!!

Hi

Hoping someone can help maybe AlexN.

Ok I am running Windows XP & have the USB OBD cable. I have closed all running programs & configured the port to COM port 2. The drivers for the OBD have been installed and are working. When I ID my car I get the following

BASIC PART No xxxxxxxx
VIN xxxxxxxxxx
Programmed Part No xxxxxxxx

Then I get the following error CAR ELECTRONICS IS UNKNOWN 533132. If I click OK it goes away.

I then try to download my cars ecu and get the following LENGTH IS ZERO ! message.

The program does not start to download anything.

My car is a November build 05 MCS.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thankyou :)

I had no problem with my MTH upgrade but I never hit the redline... I don't find that I need to go that high to get power...

MTH still won't work on my MCS

Well tried the MTH mod on my MCS again exactly the same error message as I posted earler and YES car ignition is switched on & the OBD is right into the socket.

So does this mean that MTH is just not compatible with Nov 04 build cars? Or is it just mine?

Have everything configured correctly on PC. Using COM port 2. The VIN & all the other numbers show up then get the Car Electrics 533132 is unkown error.

Then when Itry to get my ecu data I get LENGTH is Zero message.

Am I doing something wrong? It's so frustrating can someone please help!!!!!!!

According to AlexN here

"News:

It seems that the current version of Cartune does not work anymore on 05s build after week 46 in 04. Franz is aware of the problem and working on it."
