Hi all,
May I just say, thank you for taking a look at this. As mentioned I have an R50 Mini One Diesel which is due for an Oil change. The problem I have is, the car have 112000 mile and it make a bit of a noice at start, now I do know most Diesels sound like a bit of a building site as a rule though. Looking at the Mini Spec it says I should use 5w 30 oil, BUT - I was thinking with the miles done the clearences will be a bit larger than they where from new; so with this I was thinking about using the Castrol Magnatec 5w 40 ???. Could I please ask, whatr do you think ???, is this a way to go ???. The Magnatec is fully synthetic though its not required. Please, has anyone else had this ere problem ????

If it meets or exceeds the manufacturer's recommended oil specification, should be OK.

But having said that, if you have no problems then would be best to stick to original recommended oil grade.

Shorter oil change intervals would be better.
