I emailed MINI UK re the recent problems i.e. roof wear and alarm, here is there response (recd two days later)

Thank you for your e-mail communication with regard to your concerns with
the wearing of the roof and the alarm system on MINI Convertibles.

Please be assured that all MINI vehicles are constructed to the highest
build quality tolerances, utilising the best quality materials and leading
edge technology. With this being the case, we would like to think that our
customers experience fewer problems with our products than they might with
other brands. However, we are of course realistic and recognise that there
may be occasions when components can fail and need to be replaced earlier
than we would like. It is for this reason that all MINI vehicles sold
within the UK are supplied with a three year dealer warranty, which enables
us to carry out any necessary rectification work at no cost to the
customer,
should a warrantable concern arise.

Having read your correspondence we can understand your frustrations and we
are naturally very concerned about the websites and reports that you have
read. Please be advised that we are aware of a problem existing on some
MINI Convertibles. MINI UK are currently working towards technical
solutions for these faults. However please note that as this does not
affect all MINI Convertibles, there is an excellent chance that these
issues
will not affect your proposed purchase.

In closing, we are sorry once again that you have had cause to contact us
under such circumstances. We look forward to your continued confidence and
loyalty to the MINI brand. Please be assured of our attention should the
need arise at any stage in the future.

Yours sincerely

I sent a rather lengthy letter to MINI Head office at the weekend.... lets wait n see what their response to that is.... not just about the roof... other stuff too, including about our tin top MINI.

CHRed: I wrote this response a few days ago. Seems that it might be a similar letter,"MINI UK are currently working towards technical solutions for these faults."

However there is an additional note in your letter from MINI.

there is an excellent chance that these issues will not affect your proposed purchase.
That is reassuring.

"Please be advised that we are aware of the problem and MINI UK are currently working toward a technical solution to the fault."found."
Not having the entire letter you received, it sounds that Mini are condidering to look into the problem.

working toward a technical solution to the fault."
It seems that replacenent is for the most damaged roofs.

Warranty Duration

Given the reassurance in the letter quoted, specifically the 3 year warranty, I wantto know why I only get a 2-year warranty here! If the car is warrantable for 3 years in the UK, why are we different in Continental Europe?

(No wisecracks about the way we drive, please!)

No Rest.......lots of waffle and denial.

It is obvious to me that to Mini Corperate that they do not consider this problem as a "warrantable concern". They are still in the clouds as (it) does not consider this a "concern"
Just "NORMALWEAR" And hasn't "Risen" to their threshhold.
This was written by one of their corperate attorneys.
I see right through their obfuscation of the truth. :bad:
