Hi fellow forum members,

Been waiting for the weather to change to strip the mini down and do the head gasket.

upon removing the head I was alarmed to see the condition of the pistons, my question is are they completely shot?

The head had 2 bent valves on the exhaust side of cylinder 4. And one of the intake valves on cylinder 3 that doesn't close flush.

i would say they will go again but the lack build up is heavy oil burning chances are the rings are shot going by the amount of black oil carbon built up,, and good one has a dark brown tarnish as a rule, scotchbrite and some seafoam on the scotchbrite will clean them up like new, once clean see what you have then.
