Thanks for the info! It is on my possible options list and I have been trying to make a decision. You lucky bastards. I am still waiting to even SEE a Cooper let alone a Cooper S fully loaded. On 06-08-2001 9:11 ICEman wrote:
Does anyone know the details on the navigation system? YES
Who is manufacturer? SIEMENS / VDO- formerly VDO, formerly Philips
Does it use CDs? OH yes - just 1
Can the maps be updated? At the right cost per CD - of course
Is it the same for the US and UK etc? The design is the same but the maps are country specific
How does it rate against 3rd party nav systems? Its best in class. You can have split screen, points north, points the way you are going. Its colour (sorry color). Its fast. Its widescreen. Its the same as BMW Bord Monitor 3, 5 and 7 series for example - test drive one.
Is it good value? If you use it for your job, I would say yes, as a gimmick - probably a big boys toy, but depends how much cash you have.
You can probably sort yourself out with TV with it as well. It will be a Japan option, but if you pester them enough!!!
