New Mcsc Help I Need Advice

Hi I am also a newbie and have just took delivery of my new MCSC c/w aero kit, I have worked hard and saved up to afford this car and had to wait 8 months ( I was moved up the list, originally given a July delivery). The car is a dream, you get alot of attention from other drivers, passerby's etc, however since owning it I have become paranoid about driving it and leaving the car alone. I am constantly worried someone will scratch it, dent it with their car door out of jealously. I have it permantley covered to protect from frost, rain , bird ****. I will only drive it on dry days, which are far and few between. I didn't think I would be like this, as having to wait 8 months I thought I would live in it.
Does anyone else feel like this or am I sad, does this feeling pass.
Appreciate your comments

I'm the same way. I park my new MCSC away from other cars . I think it's normal.. congratulations on your new car. If you have pictures, I'd love to see it. I can only imagine it with the aero kit. ;)
LoL!

You'll get used to it :p The more you drive it and the more places you take it the more comfortable you will become. MINI's are pretty popular these days and while their good looks set them apart from other small cars you shouldn't get a great deal of unwanted attention.

If a bump or a scratch happens then worry about it when the time comes - I know it'd be a horrible thing to happen, but most things can be fixed good-as-new. There's no point having a fantastic car if you don't want to use it ;)

Errrrrr.......... don't forget the neigbour's cat sharping their nails on the roof ;-)

But I understand what you mean.
I agree with all of the above - however i know excatly where you are coming from. I work in an area that is regarded as quite rough - however i have had no problems to date - i guess if its going to happen it will, but there is no point in worrying about it mate.
My advice -- enjoy the exercise. :D There are definite advantages of parking far away from everybody else.
New MCSC

Thanks for your replies. I took my MCSC out today, added some more miles as I cant wait to run it in and really put my foot down. Left it alone next to other cars, came back and everything was ok, so far so good. So looking forward to more days like this.
Cheers

Hello Nick

I know the feeling. when I got my first convertable, I hated leaving it parked when I went in for coffee downtown. I was afraid some kid would walk by with a slushie and throw it inside. It never happened. I know leave the top down, but park away from other cars. Worst thing that ever happened: it downpoured while I was in the store and came out to water in my car.

Have a great day and enjoy!!

Hi Alli,
Thanks for your reply. I don't think I am at the stage where I will leave my car with the top down, especially due to our poor climate in the UK. But I am getting more confident about leaving it, the only thing is you do get mindless idots out there who get pleasure in vandalising other peoples property. What MC do you have, any photos ?
Cheers
Nick :)
Hi Nick

I know how you feel as I love my baby too, and have made several mod's to her so she now stands out it in a crowded car park even more. I take great pride in driving my car and joy it. However I feel that this si what a car like the MCSC has been built for as it is such a great drivers car, so drive it as often as you can, and as far as you can. I take mine on Mini run's as many times as possible with the Middlesex Maniacs and we drive the cars as hard as we can you have never seen so many smiles on your face !!!!
I am careful where I park, and try to take sensible precations, but what will be will be mate, you could do all you said you do with your car, and drive it very little by the sound of things and still end up getting some mindless scum bag putting a key down the side !!!

Live life and enjoy the MCSC doing what it was designed for going round corners !!!!

Cheers mate,
I appreciate your comments. You are right I don't drive it as much as I should, due to the fact it increases my chances of getting it vandalised. I have never driven a car like this, which gives me so much enjoyment and jealous looks, so I don't want to risk losing the feeling because of idots out there. However putting that to one side, you are right, I may only drive it once and someone keys it. So from now on I am going to drive as it should be driven and as often as I can, I just can't wait to run it in.
Appreciate your advise, WATCH OUT HERE I COME !!!!!!!!!! :) :) :)

Hello Nick,

I don't own my mini yet..still waiting. But I am getting a hyper blue/black mcsc and I'm SSSSOOOOOOOO excited!!

I lied when I said about the worst thing. There was something worse that I had to block from memory. Before Christmas I was shopping and parked WAY out in the lot. I came out to see my side mirror hanging by the wire. I currently have an M3 vert. I cried when I saw this because there was also a small crease below the mirror. You are right, people get jealous and have to destroy other people's things and it's terrible. Instead of just standing back and saying "wow, what a cool car" they stand back and say "it's unfair that they have a cool car and I'm walking...I'll show them."

As soon as I get my baby, I'll post pics for everyone to see because I'll be so proud!!

Talk soon,
Alli

Hi Alli,
Looking forward to see those pics, especially in hyper blue. Lets hope you have better luck with your wing mirrors on this car.
Cheers

However. although I understand 'the fear', it still 'only' is a car, produced to drive you around. Anyone interested in trackdays with their MCSCs? With the risk of getting it scratched? But then again, learning to know and enjoy your cars possibilities?

Had the same feeling with my (hobby) Porsche, but now I take it to trackdays and park it whereever I want - because I have to drive it to enjoy it... And then parking comes with that...

And remember - the first scatch hurts the most.... ;)
I find that when I make sure I park far away from everyone else, when I come back out to my MINI, there's always another car parked right next to her! I don't understand it.
