This winter I purchased my first mini. Used 2011 convertible and looking forward to some warm summer days!

I'd love pointed in the direction of ways just to stay on top of maintenance and taking care of this baby.

Thanks!

Best way to start off is by getting a copy of the Bentley service manual;

It’s the best manual out there that I’m aware of, and it only looks expensive until you take your Mini to a shop! It pays for itself the first time you use it.

IIRC, there are issues with the vanos solenoids and timing chains on the Prince engine.

I’ve got the TriTec engine in my 2004 so I’m not really up on the second generation Mini’s. No worries, you’ve likely already found the Second Generation forums below that have a massive amount of information.

Oh, I almost forgot - if you get an estimate on a job such as timing chain replacement, it’s a lot easier to justify to your wife WHY you really do need the cool new tool(s) for working on the Mini yourself!
