Hello everyone I’ve signed up to the forum , so thought only proper to say hi 👍
Spent today cleaning under the car I’d show some pictures but can’t as yet . Rules are rules .
one burning question is can I run 17” alloys on stock suspension and would there be any adjustments to the mile- ometa / odometer .
looking forward to hearing from you.
cheers 🍻

As you go up in wheel diameter the tyre profile drops (aspect ratio) meaning the overall wheel diameter remains the same, therefore it will not affect suspension or speedometer.

Thank you I must admit I read it not this topic as there’s a lot on it here. The question is what tyres as I hear runflats are a hard ride I’d sooner go for more comfort . I finished the underside of the car today prepping for new rear subframe. I got the front subframe, swing arms, tierod ends and droplinks done last month , just trying to find an own replacement mid under brace . Aftermarket ones are ridiculously expensive .
thanks again for the advice 👍

Runflats have a harder sidewall to allow the 'run flat' so gives a hard ride. Also the larger the wheel the less movement in the sidewall (as its smaller) so the ride gets harder. The smallest wheels give the softest ride but with more roll and so does not feel so planted. There are usually 3 options for wheel size (my F55 takes 16,17 or 18 inch) with the middle size usually being the best overall option in looks vs ride. As I don't like runflats I keep a spare wheel at home in case I get a flat that is unrepairable at the roadside (mine is a 16" spacesaver, 17" wheels fitted). I sometimes take it with me if I am going a long way from home but it takes up a lot of space. My previous R50 Cooper had provision for the spare under the car but the Cooper S doesn't due to the exhaust design.

Something to consider I suppose it’s whatever is cheapest, I don’t use the car that much 4-5 k a year, I’d like the look of 17s, I got standard 15s on my hatch cooper D.
Sunny Dene can you tell me where I can get the correct undertray engine fixings ? I preferred 10 metal clips n screws but I seen today there’s bigger fixings needed in square holes etc ?

I get all my fixings from ebay but the main dealer aren't always that expensive for odd bits like that. There are a few sites where you can find a parts listing for your car and then search ebay with the number - it usually works for me.
