Hi All,

Im new to the forum so thanks for having me.

I have just purchased a 2002 cooper s and tinkering noticed that the previous owner has bypassed the oil cooler and has the coolant hoses connected to each other, is there any reason to do this? will it damage the motor ?

Cheers

what happens is the oil cooler breaks inside leaks water in oil and oil in water, and some idiot has just removed the oil cooler bad move can over heat the oil,, i would use universal oil cooler off ebay and not rubbish oil cooler from factory or has someone fitted a oil cooler conversion to it and by passed the water pipes as would not be used with a front mounted radiator, if theres one modify you should do its a oil cooler rad in front of car conversion link below for kit
