Mini is still giving the odd engine light flicker. Usually after a long run at around 70mph.
Had a new oil pressure switch but engine is quite high mileage at 123,000 miles.
Scanned obd2 and has no codes
Can you put a thicker oil in these engines or does it have to be 5w30 due to the vanos set up

I vaguely recall you have tried everything else to solve the problem, oil pressure tested, oil pump and chain weakness, etc.

Think the engine is just getting to the end of it tolerances due mainly to neglect of regular oil changes and not keeping the oil at the correct level by previous owners

May try swoping the new oil pressure switch. Was a cheap one and believe it may be faulty or calibrated wrong


Took it out today and was leaking so have put a new febi oil switch on the engine

Issue has gone. But cheap buy twice I guess
