5 quarts = 4.73 L , they take 4.2 L. May be the new oil is difficult to see on the dipstick ?
Oil not registering on dip stick
Just changed timing chain and chain for the oil pump car runs fine Put 5 quarts of oil in and not registering on dipstick do not want to put too much oil in thanks for the help

Yeah, I've just changed the oil on my R56 JCW. It's always difficult to see how much is registering on the dipstick, because it's so clean!
