This is my first post ever in the Cooper S forum, stumbled on this - and as far as I know this guy is a member on here, but I'm pretty smitten. I'm not sure what to do, so was wondering if anyone had any advice. This is the spec.

Mini cooper s,black with white roof,6k miles,.04 d reg
CHILI PACK;
17" S spoke alloys,xenon lights,air con,interior light pack,allot patina interior,front fog lights,on board computer,rear roof spoiler,rev counter,sports suspension plus.leather steering wheel.sport seats+All the usual extras that come with the s model.
EXTRAS;
Multi function steering wheel inc cruise control/3 spoke
Panoramic glass sunroof
Harmen/Kardon HiFi system
Leather/clath seats
White rear lenses
Auxillary oil pressure and oil temperature gauges
Mini Fini centre arm rest

I absolutley want it. He's asking for €32k which is 2k more than what I paid for my cooper new, which is the same year and has almost twice the milege. I've no idea what my car is worth, (???) although I would be keeping my wheels and selling the S spokes on afterwards, which means I'll have to quickly buy aftermarket wheels to sell on my car. I don't want to be impulsive but I don't see this car being available for long...Anyone any advice?

Hi MINILOU

Not sure what the selling prices are like in Ireland but at €32k (£21.3k) that sounds a bit rich for a 2nd hand S even with this low mileage, that is only a little less than I paid for my brand new MCSC with a higher spec !!

However if this is a good price for this car in Ireland then it is a good spec and looks cool, by the sounds of your post you want it, and like it so go for it, Cooper to S you won't regret it !!
I think it's a good price. I paid 30k for mine new and it's only a cooper, I just don't really know what I'll get for it if I try and sell it now, and I don't want to be selling it in a hurry either, I'm just afraid I won't have new wheels for it, and it sold in time to get this S. Feel sad sellig it too but this one has all of my extras and more anyway. I do want it - just need more convincing :rolleyes:

EDIT: Oh and yeah cars are more expensive here - but we get cheaper petrol? lol
My advice would be not to rush it. This is quite a large purchase and there will always be another car just like it.

It looks a nice and if it is someone on Mini2, it will have most likely been looked after. :) Try and find out who it belongs to, then check to see what posts, if any, are in the Faults & Fixes Forum.;)
Check that spec against secondhand prices from your dealership, if it seem like a good deal then go for it :)
This dealer has a 2002 S with 23k miles on the clock for euro26,000!!

Makes your one look like a good deal

Looks like a nice car and a nice spec...... Only you and the locals around you can tell if its good value for money in the market you are trading in........ It sounds like a lot of money but that could be the going rate......:p

Tread carefully, do all the usual checks you would do with any car, and make sure your head rules your heart in terms of what you want from it..... as LMB says.... there will be others like it :D
Thats the dealers I bought my car from actually. Yeah, It seems a good deal. It's the wheels that will be the ***** - I don't have a spare set and I'd want the R90's for the S, so it's a matter of buying wheels to sell on my car then after the sale having to sell the wheels that came on the S - and hopefuly breaking even!
It seems that there aren't many secondhand S's in the emerald isle :confused:

26k euro's works out to £18,243 for a 2002 low spec S
32k euro's works out to £22,447 for a 2004 reasonable spec S

I know the prices are more expensive in Ireland, but just to put in a bit of perspective for the UK'ers

around 32000 Euros seems like the normal 2nd hand price for a mcs in Ireland
I saw a 2nd hand one with 5000 miles sold for 34000
Ok, that spec isn't much different from my car, and I paid € 37k for mine.........pre R90s or works , driving lapms, etc, so my car has cost me about € 45k to date.

I think € 32k isn't a bad price - a new S with Chilli is just about € 30k, those extras are about € 2.5k roughly, so I imagine that guy is pretty much selling it for what he paid for it - maybe some haggling to be done? :D

Lou, do you still have my work number? Give me a call, I'll PM you the number in case you haven't got it..........;)

Ah I know that fela.:p He's a very nice bloke, I'm sure he'll give you a good deal.:D ;)
Well it would appear the Cooper S has such fantastic residuals I'd be best buying a brand new one! So that gives me some time to save and stops me worrying about wheels and fiddly stuff like that. Thanks to everyone you've been superhelpful!

It's more fun speccing it yourself.;) The new Cooper S is a tad faster as well (170bhp to 163bhp).

Make sure you pop in the speccing thread :)
