I'm going to take a guess that you missed a connector to connect back up or is not really connected or you missed connecting it. Fuel Pressure Regulator not connected.
P0001 fuel volume regulator control curcuit/open
Hi, further to my last post and after fitting a new thermostat and removing the inlet manifold to de- gunk the valves, I now after rebuild am getting the above fault. Engine starts then dies.stripped intake off again to check conections, all ok, refitted everything, but no success, same problem.Is there a way to test vrc?.

Found the fault! It was the connector on the high pressure pump had at some point not been fully connected ,and me working on the loom loosend it enough to fail. All's well that ends well!
