This happened twice in one day..

I was on the motorway and heard a whistling, i had only adjusted by window and not the passengers where my girlfriend was sitting. We got out of the car a number of times that day and both times on the motorway i had to put her window back up..only be a few MM but its like the window didn't go back up after the door being shut.

Anyone else experienced similar?

Cheers,

-Rob

Had the problem. For me it was because I wasn't closing the door completely. Once I did that the window closed all the way. :red:
I've had an issue which I finally figured out which was similar. When I was pressing the unlock button a second time, or third or fourth - to make sure both doors or the boot was unlocked, it would register as holding the button down as if i was trying to open the windows and sunroof. The windows would both go down incrementally, sometimes more if I kept pressing the button and I would get the sound of air as I was driving. Thought it was when I was leaving and the key was in my pocket and I was accidentally pressing the button...but no. Just a quick trigger finger I guess.
I often have this happeining to me - As Tymbre says it is due to holding down the unlock button for a little too long - the windows will start to open but not enough for you to notice. You only realise when you go over about 40mph.
Thanks guys. Just a little idiosyncrasy then..good good.

This also started happening to me last week. My passenger window would drop a little and sometimes the interior dome light would come on. It was just as thought the door was ajar, but it was securly closed. If I raised the window, it would drop a little again!!. In the North East US it has been cold and I noticed that the problem was apparent in the morning when it was cold and go away as the temps got warmer during the day.

Luckily my MINI was scheduled for service yesterday morning at 7:00AM so the problem was there when it went in for service(PHEW!!)

The tech discovered moisture inside the passenger side door latch mechanism which upon freezing possibly caused the problem so they replaced the door latch under warranty. My guess is that it has an electronic component that signals the window and dome light to activate, but in any case my problem is now fixed.

Hope this helps,
Bill

ive had this on both windows.

get the dealer to fine tune the windows under warranty.

one window didnt drop enough when the door was being shut to go under the a frame pillar trims.
one window didnt raise higher enough to seal properly - lots of whistling at speed
both were too far forward on the door and were sticking stlightly.

after lots of milleage the doors eventually sag on the hinges and this causes the windows to require resetting.
Don't ask why, but I was driving around with a megaphone on the roof last week. I wanted to check if it was still properly attached, so I lowered the window using the auto function and stuck my head out the window to check.

BAD IDEA. The window went back up by itself and I was stuck with my head between the car and the window :D :D :D

Thank god I had a passenger who managed to lower the window for me. No, it wasn't him pulling some prank on me either
