Power socket in cargo area

Good day all,

I have a 2011 R56 and need help figuring out how the cargo area power socket (cigarette lighter) installs. It's just loose (hangs out & held only by wires) and I need help.

Thanks for your help in advance.

WOW so sad to see so many people here know nothing about MINI Coopers.

Anyway found the answer on another MINI forum.

Just seen your post and was about to answer your question.

Please try to be patient when posting a question on this or any forum as a sarcastic retort such as yours is unconstructive and will only deter people from helping you with future questions. We are all just ordinary people leading ordinary lives and not a professional call centre poised to answer as soon as a question arrives!

Anyway, pleased to hear you have resolved your question.

Can you share please? I've got same problem.
WOW the OP is a complete horses arse with an inordinate amount of self importance.
(I hope they read this) that within 1 calendar day they spit their dummy & melt down.

Without having the faintest clue of how standard an item with so few connections the long time existence of cig power sockets have been for some 50+ years within the car industry 😂 😂 😂

Honestly it gives me hope that despite heavy brain injury i;m not as vacuous nor as mentally deficient as some lost souls
(does the op count all the sprinkles on a doughnut & write a searing letter of complaint to the brand owners maybe)!? :ROFLMAO:

You need to get your head around standard format kit Boner & not worry so much.. any basic net search will drag up a plethora of videos (varying quality) that will get you round what is essentially a 2 wire fitment on millions of cars regardless of brands.

took me less than 10 seconds to find this..

& whilst that isn't your rear trunk / boot specifically, its actually more of a job, you just need to break it down into relevant info bytes & apply yourself ;) there is less to get in the way in the boot area where you wish to work.

Honestly you can do it.
Thing is, there are so many trim items that need spudgers to lift / tease free items within a car interior, a good set is nigh on critical if you intend on "fiddling & tweaking" any vehicle in your possession.

& as a brucey bonus, (as a lot of folk want integrated USB where once a cig power socket existed ... another video to think on & then proclaim, "same fitting, just adapted" (with a drop in same size replacement, because ..as already stated its an industry wide part.

Baby steps, & a clinical approach will see you through, let us know how you get on, the panel in the boot / trunk of the mini is just a basic covering, the old unit should tease out (be careful around live wires naturally) spade connectors are as simple as 1,2,3...

I think you've misunderstood. I've got the power outlet. But when I removed it its now hanging and not fitting back correctly. I think a ring has vanished that held it in place on the backside if the carpet boo liner. Might just pop down local auto factor and grab a new one with a screw back.
Ah, do you mean the acrylic surround? (context is everything, esp when there's a delay on the internet) ;)

At a push you could use a silicone seal if you've got a mixed bag of em? (to take up the slack if you just want it tight) & fix it properly later...or never.

On another note, whilst talking silicone rings, having recently changed a silicone ring on my smart car(s) petrol caps you might want to check the state of (perishable) decay ..its an easy fix for a few quid, or mot fail at around £45? depending on what you have as a stopper.
