I started to notice my Mini was crunching into 2nd gear about a year ago but its gotten progressively worse to the point that i'm now shifting past it (1st to 3rd). I understand that this is a common fault with the GS6-55BG gearbox (I have a R56 1.4 Mini ONE 2009 6 speed). I am quite technical and may be up for taking the gearbox out and changing the offending part but I can't find any info to tell me what the problem is likely to be so that I can pinpoint it when/if I split the gearbox. Is it the 43 tooth 2nd gear or the syncro hub or something else? Has anyone got any info on this at all?
