First off... i ordered this thing last friday! and it arrived today! thats crazy! i was happy about that

secondly, i opened up the container and got confused.. ive seen a picture of an AmD pulley before and it was black and had the AmD Technik Logo on it... Mine Doesn't:(... i dont know much about this sort of thing, but is something missing? aren't pulleys meant to have screws on them or something?

have a look at mine...
can anyone assure me that ive got everything and that the pulley i have is
actually an AmD one?!

Just a question,. How are you meant to take it off again should you ever want/need to
once fitted? You cant use the 'two half ' tools that grip all the way round as they only fit the standard (larger diameter ) pulley. Small pulleys dont have enough access to get
the legs of a '3 leg puller' round the back, which damage them beyond use anyway.
Just a thought ;) Regards Roland GTT
ive got no idea???

but i dont really plan on taking my pulley off once its on :)

can anyone out there answer my question :(

The original pulleys offered by AmD were silver:

The AmD pulley is made from aluminum and is an interference fit pulley ... it must be pressed on the supercharger shaft. Only taper fit pulleys (eg. Alta pulley) have screws.

thanks MINIAC

so if it is pressed on to the supercharger.. how does it stay on?

Same way the stock pulley stays on ... it's a tight fit ;)

Make sure whoever installs your pulley knows what they're doing ... it must be aligned correctly the first time. The Alta pulley is much easier to install as it positions itself as the screws are tightened.

Hmm ok :) thanks for the info! much appreciated :)
Great to know you went ahead with the purchase with all the discussion on the other thread. The items look up to scratch!
yeah i was seriously going to get the Alta pulley... then this came up and its a quarter of the price!! :)

i figured that a few other aussies have it, and they have had no problems.. and one of them tracks his car too... and i hadn't heard of any other problems, so it seems fairly safe.. hopefully :p
looks like the guys in the states pressed their own pulleys - the ones I've seen have had AmD logos on the side...

yeah.. so have I.. do u have the logo one? black or silver?

i guess it does the same thing at the end of the day.. (trying to reassure myself everything will be OK) :)
I've seen two that are silver and have the logo. Last I asked the UK guys wouldn't do any black ones!

FLiPSiDE has an AmD pulley tool at a shop out west that's done a few pulley swaps. I don't know if ALS have one? Also, when Wes bought his kit direct from AmD in the UK, ALS wouldn't fit it for him...!

ALS wouldn't fit it for him?!?! i called them yesterday and they said it could cost 280 plus 60 for pulley remover hire.. it was funny.. i called Superior automotive.. and asked how much to do the pulley.. he said $1400... i said.. you're joking right.. he said no!!.. they must have made a mistake or something.. or maybe thought i was asking something different

what shop is Wes' pulley tool at?

got an email back from AmD USA and they said they stopped making the black pulley because it wasn't as popular.. still confused why my pulley doesn't have the logo on it??? makes me think that its not a genuine AmD? i dunno...

This sounds odd... See if you can get hold of Ram and ask him exactly what's going on with that
Ahhh, so Wes has 'access' to a pulley puller?

Im gona get the ALTA one me thinks... I read the thing here a few weeks back about the heat tolerance of the AmD one in comparison to ALTA and the others, and I think I will go with a stainless one...

Todd
yeah i sent Ram and email..

he ignored my question about why there was no logo.. ?? think i might send another on :) he just said the black ones didn't sell well... which sounds weird because id like to get one and i think otehrs would too!

its all very confusing.. but at the end of the day.. its a pulley.. i prob would have gone for an Alta one if i wasn't such an impulse buyer :)

this heat thing Todd says is weird.. im not sure on the chances of the pulley slipping... the stock pulley is made like the AmD pulley .. in that it is a 'press on' not sure what its made of though...
just went to that webb motorsports site..

its amazing how much of a wrap he gives the Alta pulley... im having second thoughts now  dammit (in will farrel - "oldschool" voice)

So its $340 to fit a pulley now? I thought it was like $150 before. Have you checked with Peak Performance?

Havn't Checked with Peak performance..

Where did you hear the 150???
I recall about $300 for pulley install, and almost an hour of dyno time. Didn't have to pay for the pulley tool
