Think it was only the R53s (Cooper S) have the fan on the PSP, not the R50s - Ones and Coopers. Depending where in the world you are - as in how hot a climate - TBH you don't really need it. In the UK mine, on an R53 Cooper S, was siezed for at least 2 years. Which never caused any issues. Didn't notice. Eventually swapped for an unsized used one. I believe it is triggered by the high speed fan sensor - which on my car hardly ever comes on.
