Hi all....So tomorrow i will be replacing my boot with a new one (Common rust issue ruined where boot handle is :( )

However after removing the plastics in preparation for this i noticed this little box. Now i found out it is an aerial amp of some description and i have pulled out the yellow and black cables and the AM/FM on and the signal goes.

Now the more intriguing part here is the red connector is actually wired directly to the rear windows and removing it does nothing to the AM/FM signal

The replacement boot does not have the mounts for this unit and there is no wires on the windscreen to connect to it (Think it came off a r52 jcw and mine is a r53 jcw)

Would this be ok not to be connected as it does not affect anything radio wise or will car throw an engine light cos this part is not connected?

Cheers in advance

You shoud be fine. You are looking at an aerial diversity box that uses both the normal aerial and the heated windscreen as another. It chooses the strongest signal.
