Hello all,

This is my first post. Be gentle with me!

I have an R53 which the other day decided to jettison all of its water through the pressure cap. This was after 20 minutes in a traffic queue. I noticed that even during the volcano of water, the radiator fans did not operate.

I have since used a SNAP-ON Solus tool to look at the live OBD data. The ambient temperature and coolant temperature gauges read as they should. However, at the end of the list is "Radiator temperature sensor" which reads 0.0V / -43deg C. I have verified that BOTH fans work as the Solus tool can force them on. The temperature gauge on the dash is operating correctly. i.e. It lies terribly.

So the question is, is there actually a separate sensor to operate the fans? if so, where is it? I see no mention of this anywhere. References to the R50 indicate that there is only one sensor.

Thanks for reading.

Regards

Mike

If fan wasn't working might check and see if power steering fan works, same circuit. There is a relay mounted in the radiator fan assembly housing.
