Hi...nice to see mike 1967 back!!
Get this ...I take my S to a licensed backyard mech for a clutch rep.....halfway through the job drop by for a peek....I am instantly horrified when I look under hood and see all wiring pulled from ECU and to make matters worse the Batt is still connected...I look at Bozo and say...wtf?....this scares rhe phuk outta me....I leave quickly and leave it to him (and God)...go to pick it up 2 days later, he's just finishing....I try to fireit up and the engine acts like a bad HPFP...fire/stall umpteen times...finally fires if held at 3000 rpm for a minute.....then idles like shit....ENGINE SOUNDS COMPLETELY WRONG. makes about 50hp max....I decide I'm gettin my car outta here!....halfway home.....call tow truck, next day I find broken wire at boost cont sol, also live stream shows no coolant temp...( yup, disconnected at sender) Live stream shows 0.0 short and long fuel trim regardless of engine rpm...throws code .......

the MAF reading I would guess more likely to be due to car running wrong, open circuit on injector 3 would be suspect would check wiring to it its under the inlet manifold,, ie fuel rail, i do unplug the wiring from the ecu on them to move it safely out way ie cable tie to top of engine and your right pust disconnect battery first, i would all the pins are shows under the plugs to ecu as well incase one got snapped off by hard handed removal etc,

Thanks Mike....did i mention the guy unplugged everything and the batt was still connected?....I knew there was gonna be trouble...when it started i just said phuk it i'm not leaving my car here...halfway home ineeded t truck....next day I also found drivers side wheel loose!................may sound silly ...which cyl is 3?...toward drivers fender i believe.

number 1 cylinder is gearbox end, would be running wrong with said fault code as only 3 cylinders works so 25% of the prescribed gases are missing as such

Wow man that is does sound pretty messed up. hopefully he did not burn your cam sensor circuit in the cars computer that sometimes goes out on R56's

EDMONTON BMW/Mini Do Not EVER do business with this place or its people, All you will get is lies and excuses so far fetched that the behavior borders on corruption. Jan Parks, Shawn Goodwin and the rest of the service department are totally incompetent However that is a treatable condition ...the abject venality and lies via fairy tales is a condition of their character,,....eg Oct 16/20 after my car sits there all week I'm told they are unable to proceed as 3 of their mechanic;s are off with Covid. In the next breath I'm told mech's are afraid of my car, afraid for their licenses.. car was there for a hard start rough running condition DTC code P3108 (cyl 3 injector circuit open).
These useless clowns should be fired and the place burnt to the ground ....Jan Parks, Shawn Goodwin and the rest of the service department represent everything that is wrong or broken in our society
Jan parks GM ws apologetic today ...five minutes later he ordered me off his lot threatening police ....whle I was boosting my carar....seems they tried to start it ran BATT down and left it in freezing temps

So here's what I feel necessary.....I'm installing an oem HPFP $1000 pelican parts USA....then remove intake and inspect wiring at the rail injectors however its fing cold and I don't really know what I'm looking for....most things are quite easy AFTER YOU HAVE DONE IT ONCE....dunno shit about injectors.....so any detailed advise with some pics would be greatly appreciated...there's nowhere left to turn ....the car may sit till spring otherwise ...frankly I need it for shopping and DR's appts....I'm not well
Also what does circuit open actual mean?....I can find no detailed reference to this

Update ..went to dealer to retrieve my car ...change fuel pump on their lot and if still no go...then tow....halfway thru job (20 mins) jan Parks GM calls me from inside the building...he is very apologetic....i have little time for him as I am freezing...he cites the above rieviw......then 5 mins later he appears outside and starts threatening me, orders me off his lot and says police on the way...I poliitly pickup my things and leave ....sending a tow truck to fetch the car.....car arrives at home I finish pump install and BAM car starts and runs, struggles to idle and runs rough but the start stall issue is OVER.......why couldn't these pricks do that?...or at least allow me to finish ...(avoiding towing)....I had to sit and boost the car anyway as they (EDN BMW ) tred to start the car ran the B/N batt down and then left it...in freezing weather.....don't think i need eplain what happens to dead batts in sub zero .....WHY AM I GETTING 0.0 Fuel trim both sensors

AND NOW HE GETTING A CODE FOR THE #3 FUEL
INJECTOR GROUND CIRCUIT IS OPEN CIRCUIT
Scanned for fault codes and performed visual inspection. Repaired
the wiring for the boost control solenoid and mounted it in the correct
location. Removed the turbo heat shield to replace and found cross
threaded O2 sensor and a broken downpipe stud. Rethreaded the
O2 sensor bung in the downpipe and cleaned the damaged threads
on the O2 sensor. Found two large holes in the intake manifold,
repaired with threaded plugs and epoxy. Found cylinders 2 & 3 not
firing properly. Performed compression test to check for leaking
head gasket (engine still okay).
Electrically tested all the injectors and the wiring from the injectors to
the ECU. Found pins on the ECU connector were damaged (bent &
crossed). Straightened the pins and resecured the connector.
Engine now runs on all four cylinders.
COOLING SYSTEM REPAIR n/c
Removed thermostat housing and replaced the broken water pipe /
tube, under the intake manifold. Replaced damaged turbo coolant
pipe (turbo to reservoir to thermostat). Refilled the cooling system
and found the resevoir bottle and water pump both dripping coolant.
Removed and replaced the leaking coolant reservoir and the leaking
water pump. Refilled the the system and checked for more leaks -
none at this time.
Also replaced missing bolt for the water pump tensioner and high
pressure fuel pump.
Ran the engine to operating temperature and found the cooling fan
does not come ON. Also suspect the coolant thermostat is stuck
closed (engine is running too hot).
More diagnosis / repair is required.
LABOR CREDIT -480.50
OUTSTANDING ISSUES:

• rad fan is not working
• thermostat seems stuck closed
• oil leaking from between the oil cooler and turbo (front of engine)
• turbocharger downpipe stud repair
• drain cooling system and refill with antifreeze
• needs road test

Forgot to read the rest of your post. You know it is a pretty big deal if you thermostat did not open as there is a duel method of operation of that thermostat. One is that it has a sensor that warms the thermostat to open it up. and 2 it still maintains the ordinary properties of a thermostat having a element that once heated it opens up. Something does not jive with that diagnosis. Unless you had that one series of Rien brand thermostats in your car.
