Rattle bad or not.

Hi everyone
I had an R50 cooper 53 plate a few years ago and loved it so much after a few vans and company cars I have now decided to clear some debt and have bought a 2006 R50 Cooper "Park Lane" It is now my new favourite thing! However, had it a few days and think i might have a chain issue and after reading and reading and...i have booked it in with a mini specialist mechanic in Stockport, Manchester luckily very local.

So..I have a rattle that starts from cold and also from warm but not everytime though almost, it lasts for about 30 seconds then goes back to normal, seems to be coming from the chain most likely the tensioner

But when driving it i get a blowing exhaust type sound on revving (only up to 2.5k rpm) if I take it out of transmission and coast the noise goes! I say an exhaust type sound as it seems directly related to me putting my foot on the accelerator not tanking it btw, but can only notice it as sounds mechanical (not super loud but not nice and dont think its normal tbh.

I'm just trying to figure out if this is related to the chain tensioner issue.

I dont think the oil has been changed in a while.

Would I be able to tell if anything serious is wrong caused by a faulty tensioner? Anything obvious? Got 5 days to wait until its looked at and very impatient, love the car.
Thanks to all the posts and experts ive read so much!
Any reply, feedback or help would be appreciated.

I have spent now £700 on my used 100k mini cooper 2006. All oil leaks and where he could replace seals he did.
I have had the tensioner replaced with new.
I have had the plastic guide rail for the timing chain looked at.
Everything seems fine the car drives great but!!...

I still get the diesel like noise rattle clicking on startup! Lasts for about 20-60 seconds and then goes. Doesn't click or rattle when accelerating or on idle after it stops. Once it stops its gone.

Is this something to worry about , should I pay the £400 to get the chain replaced?
Kinda running out of funds, supposed to be in a saving money!!

Any help or experience would be great!
At 100k it's hopefully on it's second timing chain, if not it definitely will need to be replaced.

Don’t second guess your engine we had the same sound it was the chain. Had it done and all is good.£400 bill if you do it or £££££££ for a new engine if you don’t.
If you don’t have any prove the chain hasn’t been done personally I would change it.
