Registration Plate Spacing?

Evening all.

Just wondering, I have recently been bought a private registration for my 21st birthday from my parents. Now, i know i need to get them made up, and was thinking from fancyplates.com, but, do i have to have the spacing of the letters/numbers EXACTLY how it says on the tin?

I have noticed a fair few cars around taking advantage of this, but not sure if Mr P C Plod would be entirely pleased with me, and dont want to risk a fine.

The registration in question is;

M666 PAL

but i would really prefer to have it;

M 666 PAL

using the proper standard UK font, nothing too fancy, just a nice mini border.

If any1 could clarify what i can do it would be appreciatted.

that'll be ok, not too bad, think it's when you change the letters to look like something else. not had bother with mine,
here it is, plate from fancyplates, MINI logo looks good.
Hi MaTTy
I think its pretty safe to say that what your planning to do is OK, as its a very minor change, & although strictly speaking its Not following the Letter of the Law, (Pun Intended), it would be a suprise if you were to stopped for it.
I`ve seen Spacings & Bending of Letters you would trouble Reading, & basically, theres far more important matters for the Police to concern themselves with

Just Do It

Pics of my reg in the gallery
PS Restyle what does ur reg look like again your public gallery isn there :(
I would really like those old style plates for my car. Sadly they are only allowed for pre 1940's cars. They would have looked so cool on my Cooper.
Bare in mind that this is not my private number plate, although it would be super cool.

Anyway what about this for my BEP Cooper?

Its amazing how a Black plate screw can be used to Transform some letters ;)
To tell you the truth im pretty sure they would just do u for the speeding fine, iv had my plate one for a few months and have had many a police car behind me and not one of them has pulled me over.
Love that reg Re-style you will have to pimp it up with the people from fancyplates.com

You need to alter your profile to get it to display...

...last option needs to be yes.
You only get pulled for dodgy plates if you are riding a motorbike
i got pulled for mine a while back. the copper was just being a :bad::bad::bad::bad:!! wasnt speeding or anything he just pulled me for the plates. (pics in gallery)

he had a right go at me to askin if i was insured and had a licence?? then didnt give me a producer, just told me he could check if i was lying.

ended up having to put proper plates on and takin it to an mot station and gettin sumthin stamped.

and to top it all off the ticket he gave me stated i was driving a rover!!! wtf!!!

Copied fromthe DVLA website:

THE LAW
The law states that,

You must not alter, rearrange or misrepresent the letters or numbers
Characters must not be moved from one group to the other (e.g. A242 ABC must not be displayed as A242A BC).
Offences may result in any or all of the following:

A fine of up to £1,000
The registration mark may be WITHDRAWN
The vehicle may FAIL the MOT test
Full details of the requirements are included in The Road Vehicles (Display of Registration Marks) Regulations 2001

IMHO you're just asking plod to stop you if you use a dodgy font or mis-space the characters.
