How easy is it to remove the bottom silver trim on the R56 3 spoke MFSW. I've managed to get a carbon fibre John Cooper Works one and was wanting to fit that in its place.

Does anybody know if the bit is just clipped on and if you need to remove the centre section of the steering wheel to fit it.

Thanks

I am fairly sure that you will have to disable the airbag before tinkering with it. Once you have the centre section removed it should be really easy to replace. (although to disable the airbag I think that there are some pretty crucial steps that you must follow.)

You can actually remove the bottom trim without removing the airbag - it's not easy though.

Remove the securing torx screw from the back of the trim, and try to pull the trim out and down.

Note, you can activate the horn whilst doing this ;)
