Replacement headlight lenses

2009 Mini cooper, runs like a champ but I can't see worth a damn at night. Headlights are quite well fogged over. I did one of those DIY kits myself a few years ago, and then had a body shop do it also just about 18 months ago. And we're back to as bad as ever.

Considered replacing, my go-to mechanic quoted $1350 but they'd be happy to do it for $375 labor if I found the parts.

I searched and saw this posted but not answered on the forum.
I can see a few examples of aftermarket parts available online, but does anyone have experience with this personally?

Hi Anthony,

Have a similar problem with my R56 and also my wife's VW Golf 1K Having done a bit of research, it seems that after you polish the "fog" out of the lenses, you need to coat with some sort of UV protective coating. Some kits don't come with it.
You can also get a clear protective film to go over the lenses once they've been polished clear again, this may be another option.

If yours didnt, may be worth re-doing them and using that. I'm just about to order a kit to do mine.

Chrisfix on Youtube has a few good videos on how best to sort them, here's one: ChrisFix

Good luck :D
