Hi guys - I just put down a deposit on an 07 Cooper with some options, MFSW being one of them.

During the test drive I was trying a lot of combinations of pressing the phone buttons and nothing happened - so I assumed there was no Bluetooth built in, likewise I checked and there was no USB beside the Aux port.

I know this has been asked before, but I still haven't found a definitive answer, or the ones I have found are very old.

1) Is it possible to retrofit the factory Bluetooth / USB unit?

a) What is involved?

b) How much does it cost?

2) The Parrot unit that I have seen people talk about:

a) Can I use both a phone AND an iPod with it?

b) Does it work with both the track buttons and the phone buttons on steering wheel?

c) Does it display information on the radio (non-sat nav)


I basically want an iPod and Bluetooth solution which is as OEM as possible, making use of all the existing buttons and equipment.

Parrot mki9200 will do everything you want. Easy enough to fit yourself, albeit it does take three hours to do.

You can connect your iPod via iPod connector. You can connect anything else by the audio jack. And you can connect any USB device. All simultaneously.

You can also connect as many phones as you want by Bluetooth and listen to music that way too -I have my android phone in a holder and stream music from that via Bluetooth, you can control this also with the mfsw controls, volume, track select etc.

You can have two phone connected simultaneously, so if you or your passenger gets a call you can both answer and talk hands free through the stereo. Voice dialling works too.

You will need an adapter to use the mfsw, but then you can use that to control the parrot and the phone button will work. The mfsw voice control button will not work though.

You get a separate full colour screen which can be mounted next to the rev counter. I also have the parrot remote attached to my handbrake where I can easily access all the features if I need to whilst driving.

Do a search online to find someone to buy it from. Mine came from a mini accessories specialist.

This is something I've been looking into as well. I've looked at the parrot MKi9100 and the equivalent Motorola unit (about 30 quid cheaper depending where you buy it from). However I've been concerned that the head unit would need to be recoded at a Mini dealer, the Dennison unit needs to be done like this as far as I know. Can I take it this is not the case with the Parrott?

There certainly was no coding needed with my Parrot. I purchased the MKi9200 as part of a kit from Newministuff. They can supply a nifty "no holes" bracket for the display, placing it above the start/stop button. In my case no MFSW so the controller is mounted on the opposite side.

In addition Newministuff provide full written instructions which saved a LOT of time. Well worth it....even though the bits may be cheaper elsewhere.

I have an Android phone (connected through Bluetooth) and an old iPod and a memory stick in the glove box. Works a treat. Attached pix give the idea.

Nice set up. Just purchased my Second Hand Mini and was looking at something like this.

What Craddle is this or was it part of the pack from newministuff
